Our School

A primary school was first established in Prosperous in 1856. It was located in the building beside the church, which is now used as the parish centre. As the population grew, larger premises were needed and the school moved to the current building in 1962. This was extended in 1982 and again in 2006. Our new school was officially opened in 2007 by Bishop Moriarty.

The current enrolment is 502 pupils.

The school opened two Assisted Learning Classes in February 2001. These classes accommodate a maximum of 12 children and are supported by Beech Park Services. The school also runs an associated July programme.

Scoil an Linbh Iosa is a Green School, actively promoting environmental awareness and eco-friendly practices. We are one of the few schools in the country to hold 4 Green Flags and are currently working towards our 5th.
