Here are some Prosperous facts.
Robert Brook built Prosperous in 1780.
He built it because he wanted to make lots of money by setting up a cotton industry.
The first buildings were The Post Office and the buildings beside it.
He also built Curry Hills House for his brother Thomas Brook and The Downings.
He was a bad business man and the cotton industry failed.
He moved to an island called St Helena and names a place after Prosperous.
He died in 1811.
The 1798 rebellion began in Prosperous.
Ruth Hackett died that night.
The first school in Prosperous was the Drama Hall. It was built in 1856.
