As part of RTE's Operation Transformation, the pupils of Scoil an Linbh Iosa took part in the 10 @ 10 challenge. On Friday 10th February, students from every class exercised for 10 minutes. Check out some of the highlights below!
The PTA are hosting a school fundraiser this Friday. The cake sale will be run in the hall and each child will get an opportunity to visit the various stands and purchase some delicious treats. The PTA would appreciate cakes whether bought or made for this fundraiser.
We look forward to tasting all these tasty treats on Friday! The school choir and third class attended The Peace Proms on Sunday Feb 5th in the RDS, Dublin. Over 80 children sang and danced to a variety of songs such as Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling and Ireland’s Call, as well as songs from the musical ‘Annie’ and a Michael Jackson number. Peace Proms is a choral education program which impacts 20,000 primary school children in Ireland and Northern Ireland. The Peace Proms program came about through the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI), which was established in 1995 as a peace initiative, and is composed of over 100 exceptionally talented young musicians from all over Ireland – north and south. Over the past 20 years, the CBOI has played an important role in building and nurturing vital cross border and cross community relations. The CBOI also plays a vital role in enhancing Music and Arts Education in Ireland and beyond through their Peace Proms program. The audience was exposed to a variety of musical genres from classical to movie sound tracks which included a Star Wars medley where the children were treated to an appearance from the characters themselves! Huge thanks to Principal Geraldine Hetherton and staff members Jane O’Rourke, Yvonne Mahoney, Bernadette Mynes, Anne McIntyre and Patricia Harte for attending. Thanks also to the PTA who funded the bus to transport the children to this magnificent event. It was a wonderful opportunity and one which we’re sure will remain in their memories for years to come. Kildare Education Centre will host a workshop which will demonstrate to parents how to help their children most effectively with their maths homework.

We would ask if parents could provide phone numbers which are currently active and in use for both parents. Therefore, should there be a need to ring a parent regarding their child, we will be able to contact you promptly. We would also ask if you could provide an emergency contact. In the case where both numbers provided are uncontactable, we will be able to contact the emergency number. We believe this to be extremely important for the staff, parents and children and we would encourage you to provide these details as soon as possible. Scoil an Linbh Íosa are happy to announce that enrolment forms for new students who wish to attend our school for the upcoming new school year ('17/'18) are now available.
These forms can be downloaded on this website from the 'New Parents' tab under the 'Parents' section or rather you can be redirected to the forms by clicking here. Paper copies of these forms are also available from the administration office in the school. We would ask all parents to hand these completed forms back to the administration office on or prior to the 10th of February to facilitate the prompt processing of all forms.
