We have been very busy this week working on projects. We have been learning about The South Pole and the animals that live there. We worked in groups of three and really enjoyed it. There are the finished products!
Our author study for December was Enid Blyton. In lots of her books the children go on adventures and others have big, colourful illustrations. Her novels are imaginative and she's a brilliant story teller. We participated in the global initiative Hour of Code where we learned how to write code using an Angry Birds programme. This further built upon the IT skills we've already learned this year but some of us enjoyed this so much we're thinking of becoming computer programmers when we grow up! Who knows, one of us might create a popular app in the future! A big thank you to Mr. Molly for coming to our classroom for this lesson. We made a special Christmas lunch to get us in a festive mood. We used cookie cutters to transform normal sandwiches into Christmas shaped sandwiches. Using a banana, strawberry and marshmallows we created a Santa on a skewer. We decorated a cheese string to look like a snowman. All in all, it was a delicious lunch that we really enjoyed making ourselves. Ms. Casey read the classic Christmas tale A Night Before Christmas written by Clement C. Moore. We used this as inspiration for our artwork and stuck it on our classroom door. On the last day of school we all wore something red or green, a Christmas hat or jumper. Nollaig Shona Dhaoibh go léir! See you all next year!
Rang a haon delighted the school with their performance of Ten Little Angels at assembly on the last day of school. We sang loudly and did our actions. We received a big bualadh bos afterwards and did ourselves proud. Merry Christmas to all!
