Ms Dunne’s class enjoyed using mixed media to create some cute hatching chicks just in time for Easter. We hope you have a Cracking Easter! Hello everyone! Welcome to our Class Blog for Term 2. Have a look at some activities and work we did from January to date. Scroll across to see all the photos and videos below. We like being creative and enjoy Art lessons together. We celebrated the New Year by creating art pieces depicting a firework display. We created beautiful Valentine Cards for our families. We also made lovely Art pieces for our Mam's to celebrate Mother's Day. Ms. Gaire is still so thrilled with our progress in Gaeilge. Have a look below at the photographs of the children who were chosen as "Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine" for their super efforts in Gaeilge over the past few weeks. Play the videos to hear our lovely Irish poems and songs. We learned all about the weather in Irish and some of us even had the confidence to present "The Weather" in Irish. If there is celebration, we are sure to celebrate it in style! We celebrated "World Book Day" together by dressing up as our favourite characters from story books. We acknowledged "World Down Syndrome Day" by wearing odd socks to school to show support for our pupils and friends with Down Syndrome. On Lá Glas, while dressed in green, as a school, we raised €1,600 for The Irish Red Cross. On Daffodil Day, while dressed in yellow, we collectively raised €1,300. Pancake Tuesday was a great day at school. We all tasted some pancakes, took turns tossing them, we played games, learned a poem called "Pancakes" and a fun dance called "I Love Pancakes!" Lá Glas was another exciting day for us. We learned all about St Patrick, studied Irish Music and learned the dance "Rós sa Ghairdín" in preparation for the day. We enjoyed Irish music and dancing sessions with Ms. Gaire and we created an Art piece. When Lá Glas arrived we had little parade and an outdoor Céilí. Most recently, this week, we celebrated "Friendship Week." We purchased friendship wristbands from the Students Council. Some of us bought wristbands for our friends and for Ms. Gaire to symbolise our friendship and to support Amnesty International. Have a look at the photograph below showing the creative children that entered the poster competition this week. The aim was to create a poster to show "What makes a good friend." We created bunting with our self portraits to hang outside our classroom. Our favourite part of the week was performing the song "You Can Count On Me" with the whole student body in the school yard. It was a lovely, unifying moment coming together to show friendship and support for one another. We were lucky to take part in Hurling and Football lessons this term. We enjoyed Hurling with coach Kelly and Football with coach David. We are excited for the Easter Break. We learned a poem called "The Easter Bunny" and took part in an Easter Egg Hunt around the classroom. We created an Art piece of a little Easter chick & played many games. Ms. Gaire rewarded us for working hard over the past few weeks. We enjoyed a movie with popcorn, had extra play time on the Astro Turf and enjoyed a visit to the School Playground. Cáisc Shona Daoibh! Enjoy the Easter Break!
