Term 3 at school has been a busy, successful and fun term for First Class.
During the term we had visitors call to our classroom. The Bombinate Drama Group came to do a fun Drama workshop with us. It was based on the concept of dreams and nightmares. A few weeks later the Drama Group returned to perform a play for us. We really enjoyed it!
Bridgette and John Cummins, students in the school, brought special visitors into our classroom one day- baby chicks! The chicks were gorgeous! We petted them and admired their lovely, soft feathers.

On June 5th we went on our School Tour to Fort Lucan Adventure Land. The wet weather didn’t hold us back from having fun! In fact, we got even more wet by going on the water slides. The wetter, the better!
During Term 3, we continued working on a Water Safety Course and a Road Safety Course. We applied our water safety rules to our swimming lessons in K Leisure. We got water safety wristbands as a reward for completing the course. We were rewarded certificates from the RSA for completing our Road Safety Course.
The mathematical topic that we enjoyed working on this term was “Capacity” We enjoyed filling, emptying, refilling and pouring water into different sized containers. We liked making predictions before carrying out the tasks.
We enjoyed focusing on the Art Subjects this term: Music, Art and Drama.
We learned about Body Percussion during Music lessons and performed various pieces of body percussion. We studied the Percussion Family in the orchestra and learned the names of various percussion instruments. We played many instruments during the lessons. Have a listen to two of our percussion performances!
During Art lessons, we focused on the theme of Summer. We created colourful lollipops and created summer scenes “Under the Sea” We also created beautiful cards for Father’s Day.
On June 24th we celebrated Drama Day in our classroom. We read the story “Starry Eyed Stan” and based our Drama lessons on the story.
We learned about Body Percussion during Music lessons and performed various pieces of body percussion. We studied the Percussion Family in the orchestra and learned the names of various percussion instruments. We played many instruments during the lessons. Active Week is one of our favourite weeks in the school year. On Monday we “Hit the Block” completing 2.5k. We got a certificate for our efforts. On Tuesday we had our Sports Day. It was a great success! On Wednesday we competed in Novelty Races. On Thursday we played tennis in the local tennis courts. On Friday we danced outside in the sunshine.
Now that we’ve made it to the last week of school our Achievement Tree is full of leaves! To celebrate our first 10 leaves we had a Popcorn Party. To celebrate earning 20 leaves we had a Pancake Party. We earned another 10 leaves over the past few weeks. We now have 30 leaves in total! To celebrate we had an Ice-Pop Party outside!
