Our Engine Idling Campaign!
The Green Schools Committee are starting an awareness campaign on engine idling.
We are also encouraging everyone to walk (or park and stride) to school for 10 days, starting Monday 7th February, as part of the Big Travel Challenge. You will need to display the results on your door, for the 10 days.

The Green School's Lá Glas
The Green Schools Committee invited the children of our school to dress in Green on Wednesday 16th March to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. This was also a very special occassion as it was a fundraiser in aid of the Red Cross, to support their humanitarian efforts in helping those affected by war. Check out the wonderful pictures below of some of our children donning their best green attire!

Planting with Sherry FitzGerald O' Reilly!
Second class really enjoyed planting apple trees at school this week. We would like to thank Sherry Fitzgerald O Reilly for their kind sponsorship as part of the tree initiative.
To help with caring for the environment and combatting climate change we plant trees and shrubs on an annual basis that are bee friendly. We are lucky to have the use of a our new sensory garden here in Scoil and Linbh Iosa which is for the enjoyment of all our students and staff.

Second class are getting busy outside!
This week, Ms. O’ Connors class took on a task for the green schools committee. We applied for the “self help Africa” tree planting programme, whereby schools around the country apply to plants trees in their local community. For every tree planted in Ireland 100 trees will be planted in Africa helping to make agriculture more sustainable and to contribute towards reducing climate change.
We shared our trees with other organisations in the locality such as the pitch and putt club and the tidy towns committee.
We planted three new oak trees on the school grounds. We hope to see them grow big and tall over the next few years
