Both the 5th and 6th classes of Scoil an Linbh Íosa were very lucky to have a visitor last week. Community Garda Shane who is stationed in Clane Garda station visited the student to discuss lots of different aspects of safety, the life of a Garda and he even showed the children some of his uniform and equipment!
Shane spent much of the day in our school. He first visited the 5th class and went out on the astro turf at break time to meet some of the children. After break he then visited the 6th class children.
In both sessions, Garda Shane explored and questioned the children on many safety issues like personal and road safety. He also explained what his job entails and told us some interesting stories. He had his uniform and went through much of his equipment like his baton and handcuffs. At the end of the sessions, the children were afforded the opportunity to ask some questions.
Have a look below at the session and some of the children even got to try on his uniform! This was a very worthwhile session and we thank Garda Shane for his insightful presentation and patience.
