With great delight, everyone here in Scoil an Linbh Íosa are in a celebratory mood as our boy’s basketball team have had the narrowest of victories today in their league semi-final and now await a final.
Our opponents today were a strong Castledermot side who after the first tie of the semi-final were behind Scoil an Linbh Íosa by 4 points. Therefore, Prosperous went into today’s tie with a 4 point advantage.
However, after 4 intense quarters both teams were tied on their aggregate scores. This called for three, VERY long minutes of injury time. Our boys came out fighting and scored two quick baskets to take the lead. Castledermot came back with two points but it wasn’t enough to level the game and jubilant scenes ensued as our boys and their supporters were overjoyed with their triumph.
