Colourful, creative and brilliant are only some of the words that can be used to describe the amazing Easter bonnets that were on display today at our competition. This fundraising initiative was organised and implemented by our new Student council representatives and was a big hit among the children. There was a great sense of excitement around the halls in anticipation of the winners from each class grouping!
Children were tasked with the assignment of creating an Easter themed bonnet. The task was kept very simple and the children were encouraged to use their creative skills to design a bonnet that would stand out from the rest of the students. We saw wonderful bonnets that were bright, cheerful and unique. Some used a hat as a base and others used paper and card to create theirs. Some bonnets had knitted features attached while others has some edible aspects to them also!
Overall, the student council and staff of Scoil an Linbh Íosa were blown away with the Easter bonnets and the hard work that went into them. The student council are delighted to donate the monies raised to the Irish Cancer Society, a worthy cause decided by the council themselves.
A message from the student council:
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Easter Bonnet competition. All the bonnets looked amazing and it was very difficult to pick winners. Special thanks to all the teachers that helped us organise the competition and to all the families who donated so generously to the Irish Cancer Society. We raised €644.85.
