On Tuesday 18th December, there were jubilant scenes in Scoil of Linbh Íosa as our boys basket ball players. They were successful in winning their playoff game which has now gifted them the top spot in their upcoming semi-final after Christmas.
A very tense and tight game throughout, the boys had to use all of their will and ability to pull of an excellent win.
Beginning the game, their opponents Scoil na Naomh Uilig started with great intensity and scored two baskets to no response. The Prosperous boys found their feet and began to tack back scores. As the quarters ticked by the game became very tight - an excellent game for the spectators in our hall.
As the time finished, both teams finished equal on points - 12 - 12. Three minutes of extra time had to be played to determine a winner of this play off. Our boys pulled it out of the bag just on time and scored two excellent baskets to finish the game 16 - 12 in their favour.
Now the boys must await their opponents on the other side of their group. This game will be after Christmas and is sure to be another excellent spectacle.
