Power Hour

Our literacy programme in Senior Infants is known as ‘Power Hour’. The
children are assigned to one of four groups within their class. One group is
withdrawn (leave the class for instruction in a Learning Support room), while
the other three groups work in the classroom.

Stations include reading, sight vocabulary and written activities. The class teacher is supported in this initiative by two SEN teachers (Special Educational Needs). Every week, the children get the opportunity to read one book from the PM series. This book is
brought home to be read with their parents.
