3rd October National Tree Day. We undertook a hunt to identify native and non native trees as well as looking at their fruit. Bee Workshop with Bee Aware. Amanda from Bee Aware joined Ms.Lowe's class for a 2 hour workshop on bees and pollination. The class looked at the many different types of bees and learned many interesting facts too. Did you know a bee has two stomachs? One for storing nectar to bring back to the hive and the other is for eating. Amanda told us all about the drones, workers and the all important queen bee. After the presentation we went outside to the school garden and planted Lemon Thyme and Heather (bee friendly plants) as well as completing a scavenger hunt. The class loved the workshop and commented it was a great way to spend a Friday afternoon Family projects. We researched members of our family and completed a timeline on our own life as well as a family member. Science. We looked at the skeleton and the muscles. We know how important it is to eat healthily and identified the food groups on the food pyramid. We put our muscles to the test. Comments are closed.
