Welcome to Mr. Begley's 5th Class Blog. Here we are on our first day in our new class. Come and visit us here often where we will keep you updated on what we get up to!
We had such a great active week just gone by. Monday We started the week by walking the block with Infants and then we completed some running laps around the school. This certainly got the blood flowing! Tuesday: On Tuesday we completed some indoor olympics!! We did some cooperative games including some races, board games and most importantly, we had lots of fun! Wednesday: Time for Tennis. We headed to the tennis courts on Wednesday to try out our skills. Definitely some Nadal's and Federers in the making in our class! We also had circuits in the hall which put us through our paces. Who knew step ups would be so difficult! Thursday: Our Sports Day! We had so many fun activities on our sports day - soccer, an obstacle course, relay races and unihoc to name but a few! Friday: Danceathon time. We showed our epic dance moves on the astro! Shades & Shorts in lots of shades and styles! An edible lesson: In March we planted lettuce seeds as part of the Woodies Budding Gardener competition. Today we got to sample our produce. We had chicken wraps with cucumber, tomato and of course our lettuce. It was a lovely midday snack. Some of us were so full we couldn't even eat our lunch. Very excited 5th class children arrived enthusiastically for school on Wednesday 1st June. It was no ordinary day however it was school tour day The destination, Clara Lara in Rathdrum, Wicklow. Transport.....a double decker! We knew it was going to be the greatest day and it didn't disappoint us. More than our daily mile was covered that day as children ran excitedly from activity to activity. Activities included amphicats, obstacle courses, water slide, rope swing, mini golf and rowing boats. Check out our many photos. Fun in the Sun Learning about the states of matter gave Ms. Lowe's class the opportunity to make oobleck. A great way to enjoy a Friday afternoon! Green Fingered Fifth Class Check us out planting wildflower seeds and window boxes We celebrated Yellow Day in aid of The Irish Cancer Society in our classroom on Friday. We donned our best yellow attire and visited the beautiful daffodils in our garden! Ms. Lowe's class had lots of fun this week practicing their Irish dancing. Check out their performance here, along with some pictures of them on Lá glas. We also celebrated World Down Syndrome Day 2022 by 'rocking our socks'. Everyone wore colourful, stripy or odd socks! In English we were working on procedural writing and decided we needed to follow the instructions from the book to see if we could actually make S'mores in a microwave in 15 seconds. It took 5 seconds longer but we were NOT complaining, see for yourself!! Check out our trip to the courts to test out our tennis skills! |
