Artist for a Day: October 2016 The artist this year was Deirdre Kelleghan and the title of her workshop was Deadly Moons. She worked with fifth class. Following a presentation featuring stunning images from robotic explorers in space, the children made drawings on black paper using chalk pastels. The classes really enjoyed the day.
Artist in Schools Residency Bursary Award We have been awarded this bursary to the value of €2500 from Kildare Co. Council for the 17/18 school year. The artist, Alex Rosiak, will work in the school for nine weeks making puppets with the children and producing a show which will also involve script writing, making sets, props etc. We are really delighted to receive the bursary and look forward very much to working with Alex.
Along with Ms. Keogh's second class, we have been very lucky to secure the expertise of Alex, our artist in residence. Through drama warm-ups, games and story writing, we have been exploring puppetry. Now that we have created characters and written stories, we will soon begin to bring these characters to life in the form of finger, hand and even some life-size puppets. We hope perform we our creations later in the term.
