Restorative practice is a collaborative and proactive way of being that aims to build community and manage conflict by modelling positive behaviour. FRESH is the brain child of restorative practice.
FRESH is an acronym for Fair, Respect, Engaged, Safe and Honest. It is a way of managing relationships with people that is used amongst staff and children in Scoil an Linbh Íosa. Being FRESH with one another incorporates a restorative practice approach to building and maintaining healthy relationships. This year Mrs. Gilbert’s 4th /5th class have led the way, using FRESH as their class motto. The children used role play, improvisation, discussion and debate to learn how to encourage a mature and respectful way of dealing with people. FRESH has now become a way of being for the children and the students can be heard throughout the year reminding each other to be FRESH and praising each other when they have been FRESH with others. |
