Speech & Drama
Speech and drama classes are made up of a range of drama and voice-related activities designed to improve self-confidence, communication skills and presentation skills. These classes foster self-confidence and clarity of speech in children. They promote free expression of children's imaginations and creativity and enable confident and articulate expression.
The classes include activities such as the sharing and presenting of news, information and ideas; physical, vocal and mental warm-ups; story, book and poem sharing; language dynamics; voice, speech and pronunciation exercises; exploring poetry; communication skills and creative drama and improvisation. The classes cater for children from 3rd to 6th class. The classes run over 2 terms throughout the school year. Each term consists of 10 weeks of work. At the end of the first term the children create a short performance for family. The second term consists of work in preparation for exams with ‘The Irish Board of Speech and Drama’. The classes are taught by Mrs.Gilbert (A.I.B.S.D.) from 3-4pm on the school premises. |
