Christmas is always an exciting time and the build up and anticipation always adds to this excitement. However, we had even more excitement in Scoil an Linbh Íosa as we were worthy prize winners of a Gala retail competition.
theyThe project entailed creating a 60 second video that would show what we had planned to do under the category 'Best eco project.' And, what a perfect fit for our new school garden which is currently under construction. Mr. Geaney and his class were set the task of creating a video which showed our vision for the garden that will hopefully include a poly tunnel, sensory area and a teaching area.
Much time and work went into the video which can be seen below. Unfortunately, we we missed the first place spot by a margin and came second to another excellent video. However, Gala retail were so impressed by our video and the work that went into that, for the first time in their history, they awarded a 'Special Merit Award' to our school and generously gifted us €500 which will be put to good use in our school garden. We may not have won €10,000 but we were delighted with this award and we will definitely be back next year in a bid to win that jackpot!
