The school year is passing quickly and in the last few weeks we have seen the end of the basketball season. Both the boys and girls teams performed very well this year and were a pleasure to work with. The standard of our players is improving all the time and they should be very proud of themselves. We hope our sixth class players, in particular will continue to play next year for their secondary school teams.
This year, after our fundraising efforts last year, our new basketball posts were erected on the yard. The children are enjoying using them at break times and are making some great shots-we predict some great players coming to trials in the next few years as a result.
A special mention must go to our senior boys basketball team. They reached the final of the Cumann na mBunscol schools league and the final of their Kildare schools basketball blitz. They have been a super bunch of boys to work with all year.
They took everything they were told on board at training, they worked hard, practised at home and gave it everything on the court during every game they played. They have been excellent ambassadors for our school this year and we have all really enjoyed watching them play. They beat some really excellent teams on the way to both finals, showing great skill and persistence but unfortunately, just lost out to Scoil Uí Riada on both occasions. They now have two silver medals to show for their efforts and should be very proud of themselves.
A big well done to: Billy, Liam, Chad, Cillian, Oisín, Josh, Joseph, Donnacha, Rhys, Jack, Conn, Gustas and Ben.
