It was a lucky day for Scoil an Linbh Íosa when Christy Casey, former principal, hired another secretary to join Sarah O’Brien, 17 years ago. Mary Joyce has been a valued member of the Prosperous Team ever since.
She has kept our stock of laminating sheets and post-its replenished. She has made hundreds of phone calls about head bangs and delivered many a forgotten lunch. But more than that Mary has brought a deep level of care and concern for everyone in the school – be it a little Junior Infant getting his immunisation shot or a young teacher excitedly, and at times anxiously, expecting her first baby. Parents, visitors, salesmen were all met with a friendly smile and welcoming words from Mary. She has shown the warmth of human kindness to everyone she has met in our school.
It has been wonderful to have someone with such life experience and wisdom among us.
