An annual tradition in Scoil an Linbh Íosa is the participation of the pupils in the Mangahigh competition for Maths week. 2019 was no different as we competed not only among ourselves in the school but also across the country. A incentive for students to achieve well is the medal they receive when they reach 100 points. Check this blog out to catch a peek of all our winners!
Mangahigh is an online games-based learning site that boasts great popularity among Primary school children. Testing their mathematical ability, children are able to log into personal accounts and play games which balance both fun and learning.
Scoil an Linbh Íosa hold a strong tradition of making great use of this site and more often than not the children can be seen using a laptop or an Ipad to boost their mathematical abilities.
Each year during the widely known maths week, Mangahigh host an online competition between schools across the world. These schools compete against each other in the hope of making the top prize for their school. The children are also afforded the opportunity to win an individual medal and prize if they achieve enough points.
In 2015, we at Scoil an Linbh Íosa achieved that top prize and beat off stiff competition to win the coveted prize after staggering hard work by both the pupils and teachers. In 2016, we came third in the competition which again was a great success following our previous big win.
Although we weren't top 5 winners this year, we keep the tradition going with plenty of winners! Check out our winners below!
