Well what a year it has been for our newly appointed Student Council. They have achieved so much and for the first year in it's existence here in Scoil an Linbh Íosa, we are only too excited to see what the next years are going to have in store for us!
Have a look at some of the achievements of the student council to date:
- Focus group for our creative school grant
- Communication boxes placed in every classroom where children were invited to write suggestions. These were then discussed at meetings.
- Best line competition was set up and run by the council - hugely successful.
- Basketball and soccer lunchtime leagues were set up and organised by them.
- Over €600 was raised and donated to the hospice and Irish cancer society.
A Trip to Leinster House:
On Wednesday 12th June the children of the Student council visited Leinster house. The children saw the dáil in sitting. They also witnessed the Minister for Culture, Heritage & the Gaeltacht debating with opposition as gaeilge. The children also visited the Seanaid. Afterwards they were treated to a trip to McDonalds. The children were also delighted to receive a lovely letter from the hospice after they decided to send some of the money raised at Easter to them.
