Last Friday, 9th March, everyone in Scoil an Linbh Íosa dressed to the nines to celebrate World Book Day, a global event. World Book Day allows children to dress as a fictional character from some of their favourite books and celebrate their love of reading, both fictional and non-fiction.
Due to the recent cold spell and school closures as a result, we decided that World Book Day would be celebrated a week later. The children were encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character. Teachers across all the classrooms promoted reading through story, DEAR time, book surveys, book reports, bookmark creations among many more activities. On Friday, every class gathered in the hall and paraded to the top to allow everyone to see their wonderful costumes. Have a look at the video below for a snippet of some of the brilliant costumes.
