
Today, March 21st, is the day in which we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. This day allows us to raise awareness of what down syndrome is, what it means to have Down syndrome, and how people with Down syndrome play a vital role in our lives and communities. Making it extra special for everyone in Scoil an Linbh Íosa is our very own celebrity, featuring in the Irish Independent, Layla Paris.
Layla, currently in fourth class, has been subject to much fame in school today as she has featured in an article in the Irish Independent about her life with Down Syndrome as well as her access to vital services. World Down Syndrome Day, is key to raising awareness for children like Layla and her family. To mark this special day, people were encouraged to wear odd socks.
