Aistear in November - Pizzeria - Ms. Casey's Class

Our themes for the month were the Cafe and Pizzeria. We looked into healthy eating, completing a cut and stick "Healthy and Unhealthy Plate" activity from a variety of food pamphlets. We learned the names of new types of fruit and vegetables and sorted them into groups. We read The Little Red Hen, completing a sequencing activity on the story and making a paper plate red hen at the art station. We followed this up by reading The Little Red Hen makes a Pizza, putting into order the steps to preparing a pizza and using a variety of fabrics and fibres to make a pizza base and to stick on toppings. Our role-play area was based on this, in Luigi's Pizzeria. It was great fun taking orders over the phone and delivering them to customer's houses! We enjoyed making wraps, sandwiches and pizzas with playdough. We are becomming skilled photographers too- learning to zoom in and out and keep the camera still so the picture isn't blurry.
