Sports Day 2022 will be one to remember! We had a fantastic day, between taking penalties to relay races, obstacle courses, tug-of-war, the parachute, the playground and so much more. Take a look at our photos to relive the day with us! 🏃♂️⚽️🏆☀️ Happy Father's Day to all the Amazing Dads out there from Ms Dunne's 1st Class. Have a listen to our song! The excitement was high for First Class as they set off on their first ever school tour to Fort Lucan Adventure Centre. The day was definitely one to remember, from the double decker bus to the helter skelter and the raging river, we had a fantastic day filled with fun & laughter. Take a look at our photos to see what we got up to. Ms Dunne’s class enjoyed using mixed media to create some cute hatching chicks just in time for Easter. We hope you have a Cracking Easter! Hello everyone! Welcome to our Class Blog for Term 2. Have a look at some activities and work we did from January to date. Scroll across to see all the photos and videos below. We like being creative and enjoy Art lessons together. We celebrated the New Year by creating art pieces depicting a firework display. We created beautiful Valentine Cards for our families. We also made lovely Art pieces for our Mam's to celebrate Mother's Day. Ms. Gaire is still so thrilled with our progress in Gaeilge. Have a look below at the photographs of the children who were chosen as "Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine" for their super efforts in Gaeilge over the past few weeks. Play the videos to hear our lovely Irish poems and songs. We learned all about the weather in Irish and some of us even had the confidence to present "The Weather" in Irish. If there is celebration, we are sure to celebrate it in style! We celebrated "World Book Day" together by dressing up as our favourite characters from story books. We acknowledged "World Down Syndrome Day" by wearing odd socks to school to show support for our pupils and friends with Down Syndrome. On Lá Glas, while dressed in green, as a school, we raised €1,600 for The Irish Red Cross. On Daffodil Day, while dressed in yellow, we collectively raised €1,300. Pancake Tuesday was a great day at school. We all tasted some pancakes, took turns tossing them, we played games, learned a poem called "Pancakes" and a fun dance called "I Love Pancakes!" Lá Glas was another exciting day for us. We learned all about St Patrick, studied Irish Music and learned the dance "Rós sa Ghairdín" in preparation for the day. We enjoyed Irish music and dancing sessions with Ms. Gaire and we created an Art piece. When Lá Glas arrived we had little parade and an outdoor Céilí. Most recently, this week, we celebrated "Friendship Week." We purchased friendship wristbands from the Students Council. Some of us bought wristbands for our friends and for Ms. Gaire to symbolise our friendship and to support Amnesty International. Have a look at the photograph below showing the creative children that entered the poster competition this week. The aim was to create a poster to show "What makes a good friend." We created bunting with our self portraits to hang outside our classroom. Our favourite part of the week was performing the song "You Can Count On Me" with the whole student body in the school yard. It was a lovely, unifying moment coming together to show friendship and support for one another. We were lucky to take part in Hurling and Football lessons this term. We enjoyed Hurling with coach Kelly and Football with coach David. We are excited for the Easter Break. We learned a poem called "The Easter Bunny" and took part in an Easter Egg Hunt around the classroom. We created an Art piece of a little Easter chick & played many games. Ms. Gaire rewarded us for working hard over the past few weeks. We enjoyed a movie with popcorn, had extra play time on the Astro Turf and enjoyed a visit to the School Playground. Cáisc Shona Daoibh! Enjoy the Easter Break!
Love, Ms. Gaire's class. Happy Mother’s Day to all the Super Mums out there from all the boys and girls in Ms Dunne’s class. Have a wonderful Mother’s Day 💐 The children have been working extremely hard to learn all about the Water Cycle. They put all their knowledge and skills to work to show how precipitation happens during this “Rain Cloud” experiment! Ms Dunne’s first class did a super job making a rainbow in a rain shower. They used oil pastels which were resistant to the water colours they used for the water! 🌈 🌧 Ms Dunne’s 1st class have been busy learning a Japanese paper technique called Notan, and having fun with print making to create these gorgeous pieces of art just in time for Valentine’s Day. I think you will agree that they turned our beautifully! Check out some of our photos below of what we have been getting up to since we started in First Class! Dia Daoibh! Welcome back to our Class Blog! This time, we'd like to show you snippets of activities we did throughout November and December. We hope you enjoy this blog. We have been working very well throughout our Gaeilge lessons every morning. We learned new songs and poems and vocabulary. Every Friday, Ms. Gaire chooses "Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine" (the best Irish speaker of the week.) Sometimes she finds it very difficult to choose a winner as we all like to try our best. Please see the children chosen as "Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine" in November and December below. As a class, we explored two Irish legends through History, Drama and Art- "The Children of Lir" and "Fionn and the Dragon." We really enjoyed the stories as they had elements of magic. We completed worksheets on the stories, took part in some Drama activities and created Art pieces in our class groups. Have a look at our super work below. We enjoyed working on various Maths topics over the two months. We really liked working on "Shapes" and "Patterns." Have a look at us in action by scrolling through the photographs below. If you walked into our classroom lately, you could have been mistaken for thinking you entered Santa's Workshop! We have been working like busy elves doing lovely Christmas activities. To kick-start the festive season, we put on Christmas music and danced and decorated our classroom. When the classroom was sprinkled with festive cheer, we began the rest of our Christmas activities. We created our own Christmas cards. They were sent to the printers and we received packs of our very own Christmas cards to write and send to our loved ones. They look brilliant! We drew lovely Christmas scenes in our Art Notebooks. We created beautiful Art pieces- Snowmen and Polar Bears. We also designed a Christmas jumper for Ryan Tubridy's appearance on the Toy Show. We created beautifully decorated Christmas trees. We played many festive games, learned new dances and took part in a Christmas yoga session. We know that Christmas is also a time for giving. As a class, we raised a lot of money for the Team Hope Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. It makes us so happy and proud knowing that we played a part in creating happiness and excitement in other children's lives this Christmas. We took part in our school's Christmas Jumper Day to help raise funds for our local St Vincent De Paul. We also helped raise money for the school's ALC classes by purchasing Christmas logs created by the children in those classes. They did an amazing job and we love the Christmas logs that now light up some of our window sills. We were busy learning new songs and dances over the past few weeks. Ms. Gaire recorded some of our fabulous performances for our Class Christmas Video. Ms. Gaire is delighted with our progress and great efforts so far in First Class. She ensured that we were rewarded with Play Time and we even had a visit to the School Playground. We had a great Christmas party together to mark the beginning of the Christmas holidays. We hope you have a fabulous Christmas break. Best wishes for the New Year! Nollaig Shona Daoibh! |
