Term 2 in Ms. Gaire's

9/4/2018

The children in First Class had a successful 2nd Term at school. Take a look at what we got up to!

On February 1st we celebrated St. Bridget’s Day, Grandparent’s Day and a birthday in our classroom. It was a day packed with fun! Our Grandparents came to visit us in our classrooms. We sang a song for our Grandparents and gave them special cards that we made especially for the occasion.
We worked hard during Maths lessons and practised counting and writing the numbers one all the way to one hundred! We played many Maths games during Station Work to consolidate our learning.
Our class “Reward Chart” and “Achievement Tree” reflected our fantastic work, so we were rewarded with playtime in the playground in the sunshine.
We celebrated Pancake Tuesday in our classroom by enjoying some pancakes. We had a choice of yummy toppings- lemon juice, raspberry jam and honey. The pancakes were delicious!
In February we made lovely Valentine cards to give to our loved ones.
World Book Day was a very exciting day in our classroom. We dressed up as a character from our favourite book. We had football players, princesses, a chicken, a surgeon and many more characters in our classroom. We completed a little book report on our favourite book and presented our book/ character to the class. We took part in the school fashion show.
Seachtain Na Gaeilge brought lots of excitement to our classroom. We learned new Irish songs, poems and Irish dances. Dressed in green, we took part in a Céilí in the Hall. We had so much fun.
On the last day of the Term we dressed in yellow in aid of Daffodil Day. Bunches of lovely daffodils decorated our classroom. We each gave a donation to the Irish Cancer Society. We brought home the Spring flowers we made during an Art lesson to celebrate the day. We ended Term 2 with a well deserved Popcorn Party!
