Our author study for January and February was Michael Morpurgo. None of us had never heard of him before but we grew to love his books. He had been a soldier and a farmer when he was younger and this is reflected in his books. He wrote lots of stories about farms and war that we loved reading. We learned about St. Brigid and celebrated her feast day on February 1st. Ms. Casey read St. Brigid's Cloak to us and we sang We Sing a Song to Brigid. We used this as inspiration for our artwork and stuck it on our classroom door. Tuesday February 17th was Shrove or Pancake Tuesday. We learned what ingredients are used to make the batter and helped to weigh, measure, mix, pour, flip and decorate with yummy toppings. They were delicious! Check out the slideshow below! First class learned about our five senses and had fun completing a project in their scrapbook. We then put our senses to the ultimate test - we were blindfolded and had to use our sense of smell, touch, taste or hearing to identify an item or food. We were all successful! |
