As their class novel, first class have enjoyed reading Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr. Fox. They completed lots of activities on the novel and have showcased these in the projects below. Everyone put in lots of hard work but there can only be one winner...
There's no better way to end a great year in first class than to make rice krispie buns together. Our day began with skipping, hula hooping and hurling in the fantastic sunshine. We then had a much needed break before we tackled throwing activities, hockey and the much awaited fun races. After lunch, we completed an obstacle course, danced, tug- of-war and even squeezed in a penalty shoot out before home. Thanks to the 6th class for all their help, it was a great day. Ms. Casey's first and second class had great fun creating and playing their own musical instruments this week. We wanted to explore ways to make sounds using manufactured or homemade instruments. In keeping with our Green Schools initiative, the instruments were made largely from recyclable materials. Some of us made conventional instruments and others created their own original piece. We played to several different songs and used our instruments to identify and show the rhythm and beat in accompanying songs. Check us out singing and playing our instruments to the traditional song Bingo. From string to percussion, our homemade orchestra was music to our ears and was certainly hard to beat!
First Class enjoyed a great day in Fort Lucan for their school tour. Luckily the rain held off so we only got wet from the water on the slide! From the huge playground with a castle and footbridge, to the go karts, to crazy golf, exciting trampolines and of course, the water slides, fun was had by all!
A fun-filled and an action packed day was certainly had by all, including teacher! The children had a very enjoyable day climbing frames, bouncing on trampolines, zip lining, go-karting and the highlight of the day, sliding down the water slides!! And best of all, Mr sun came out to say hello too! There were smiles all round and sleepy children en route back to school.
Although there was a showery start to the morning, it didn't dampen the spirits of the first class children. Everyone got lots of exercise running from one exciting activity to the next at Fort Lucan. Ms. Lowe, also got lots of exercise trying to capture as many memories as possible. Great fun was had by all and the sun even came out to reflect the mood. |
