Junior Infants learned about the Garda Station in Aistear in January. They role played in the Garda Station. They played in Small World, they painted Garda uniforms. They built jails. They made Garda jigsaws too. This was a very popular topic with the children. Gardai from Newbridge Garda Station came to visit Junior Infants in January. They read a story, talked about how the Gardai keep you safe and they let the children try on a uniform, hold hand cuffs and hold a baton. At the end of their visit, the children got to go inside the Garda van. In February the children learned about The Veterinary Surgery in Aistear. The children enjoyed learning all about different animals. The children participated in activities such as role play, where they pretended to be vets and customers with sick animals. They played with animals in small world. They washed the animals with sponges, soap and water. They made fences and animals in playdough and they made masks in arts and crafts. In maths we are focusing on money. On Pancake Tuesday the children went to the Pancake Shop and 'bought' their pancakes. Each topping was a different price. Everyone had a great time. Thank you Ms. Johnson. The children had a fantastic time dressing up for World Book Day! They each got a turn to talk about their costume and we had a parade around the classroom. |
