Here is a slideshow of some of the pictures I took on the day. Enjoy!
We had a great time on our school tour last Tuesday, June 10th. The children had a great time at Playbarn, the big red slide being a particular highlight. Afterwards we headed to the Stonebrook pet farm. Here we got to go on a tractor ride, have a play and get up close to some of the pet farms animals! Here is a slideshow of some of the pictures I took on the day. Enjoy! For our school tour this year, junior and senior infants visited the Playbarn and Stonebrook Pet farm. We had a great day. First of all we headed to the playbarn in Kill. We had lots of time to play in the 3 storey soft play area. There was even an indoor soccer pitch and disco. We all left with red faces after running around for so long. We had a quick snack before heading for the farm. Take a look at our pictures from the playbarn here. Next we left for Stonebrook Pet farm near Ballymore Eustace. There we got a tractor ride, had our lunch on the hay bales, played in the outdoor play area and visited the petting farm. In the petting farm we were able to pet, feed and hold some of the animals. Our favourites were podge and rodge the pigs, bambi the deer and the one direction bunnies-Niall, Louis, Zayn, Harry and Liam. To top things off the bus driver played 'Frozen' on DVD for us on the journey home. Ms O' Connor and the other teachers were treated to an excellent rendition of 'Let it Go'. We already can't wait for next years tour. Hope you like the pictures. It might take a while to look through them all, Ms. O' Connor got a bit snap happy with the camera trying to make sure she had one of all of us for the blog. Enjoy :) We had great fun today celebrating being a Green School. We all wore our green outfits to school. We enjoyed a trashion show and spent some time visiting the stalls in the hall. Thankfully the sun came out so we could be outside most of the day We read the story 'The Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfister. We drew pictures of the rainbow fish and used coloured crepe paper and silver paint to decorate our fish. Our class were so excited when we heard that the Easter Bunny had visited us! The children had great fun searching for their eggs and really enjoyed opening and eating the treats inside. Junior and Senior infants took up being kind for lent. Every kind deed we showed during Lent earned us an egg for the Easter Bunny.
In March, our Aistear play theme was 'The Garden Centre'. We planted fressia bulbs, cress and morning glory seeds. Our cress and morning glory seeds grew really well and our fressia bulbs will hopefully flower this summer. We also learned about what plants need to grow, the life cycle of a plant and the parts of a plant. Here are just a few pictures of our work.
We took a walk around the village to look for signs that Spring had arrived. We found bulbs, buds, flowers growing, nicer weather and birds singing.
We had great fun celebrating Easter in school. We made cards and clay nests filled with chicks and eggs. We enjoyed our egg hunt in the courtyard and our treats left by the Easter bunny.
